Governor Rod To Be Retried in January

Written on August 30, 2010 – 6:47 am | by Freedy |

Would You Buy A Used Senate Seat From This Man?His Former Excellency Governor Rod Blagojevich will go back on trial for trying to sell now President Barack Obama’s Senate seat the first week of January 2011.  He will be on trial alone and with a reduced list of charges, in the hopes that the jury will be able to come to a decision this time.  With the exception of the lone charge of lying to the FBI, the jury deadlocked 11-1 on the rest of the charges, mostly due to the overwhelming amount of evidence thrown at them couple with the subtlety of charging someone with conspiracy as opposed to the commission of the actual crime.

Decision on Robert Blagojevich is right

Written on August 30, 2010 – 6:30 am | by Freedy |

Robert Blagojevich, the innocent one.The prosecutors have decided not to rety Robert Blagojevich, the brother of His Former Excellency Governor Rod Blagojevich (did you know that is the governor’s official title?  Neither did I until I read a recent Illinois Senate resolution.)

While he’s probably guilty of some things, like trusting his brother, he was a distraction that muddled the view for the jurors.

State of Illinois Is Now A Wage Slave

Written on August 30, 2010 – 4:49 am | by Freedy |

The State of IllinoisThe State of Illinois and it’s out of control spending is now costing us an additional $550 million in interest, due to us being such a sucky financial risk.  Where do we go from here?  How can we ever recover?  We borrowed all of the money out of the retirement funds and then had to borrow money to replace that money and we just keep spending.

First, the lottery was supposed to be the savior of the state, especially education, which would receive the majority of the revenue.  Where did that go?  Now they are talking about privatizing it for a short term benefit.

Then riverboat gambling was going to solve all of our problems, especially funding education (wait a sec…)  Where is all that money?  In the hands of a few rich businessmen (and the Jacobs.)

So now we live in a state with no money and a bunch of undereducated taxpayers who are about to get taxed into poverty.  Except they won’t get welfare or healthcare ’cause there’s no money left.

I Want To Believe You Are Not A Sociopath

Written on August 24, 2010 – 9:17 am | by Freedy |

Governor Rod Blagojevich appeared upon the Daily Show last night for an interview with Jon Stewart and it was pretty good.  While Rod did not promise to testify if retried, he said he would sure have the chance.

Notable quotes:

“Before I could catch my breath, everybody around the world thought I was a scumbag. Am I right?”

“I want to see you as a Dicken’s character.”

“You’re a guy that’s the most adamant about his innocence of anyone I ever met, so you’re either the victim of a terrible persecution or you’re a sociopath,” Stewart said. “I want to believe you’re not a sociopath, so you have to come out — and not on talk shows — in a court of law, and clear your name. You have to.”

Patrick Fitzgerald Fundamentally Failed

Written on August 21, 2010 – 10:34 am | by Freedy |

Patrick Fitzgerald Failed to make his caseAccording to John Dean “fundamentally failed to make their case.”  I learned a new word today also, reading his analysis — inchoate meaning partial, or incomplete.  In this case, the fact that Rod didn’t complete his selling of the Senate seat, or actually receive the funds he allegedly tried to extort.

He also says that the government over charged Rod, and threw too much evidence at the jury.  I agree.  Your head starts to spin when you try to read everything.

Steve Chapman is convinced that Rod will take a plea on the rest of the charges based on his announcing he will do no such thing, coupled with his inability to tell the truth, and also wanting to reduce the sentence for his single conviction.

The Auctioning of Blagojevich

Written on August 19, 2010 – 9:36 am | by Freedy |

Today is the day that they auction off all of Rod’s stuff.  The Friends of Rod group hasn’t paid the fees on seven storage units full of campaign papers, personal possessions, and a bunch of Elvis memoribilia.  The Arlington Heights storage company has decided to auction it off and donate the surplus to the Children’s Hospital, a fitting turn since it is one of the places Rod tried to shake down as Governor.

The Other Blagojevich

Written on August 19, 2010 – 9:26 am | by Freedy |

Robert Blagojevich

Not A Jacobs

This is Rod’s Brother;  Robert.  He seems like an OK guy, besides the fact that he’s in real estate and politics, so I really wouldn’t trust a word he says.  But besides that, a stand up sort of guy( I mean, it’s not like he’s a Jacobs.)

It seems he just got caught up in his brother’s net, and, even though he was willing to profit from the sale of the Senate seat, hasn’t he been punished enough?  I mean he’s had to squat in a Chicago apartment for months!  Give the man his life back!  And that seems to be what the jury was thinking, or at least the one juror who held out.

An oversight on the Illinois State Fair website caused a picture depicting Rod Blagojevich as the current Governor to be run.  Or was it a secret supporter?

Error puts Blagojevich’s picture on Illinois State Fair website day after former governor found guilty of lying to federal agents | abc7chicago.com.
